Fiskerklyngen - Fishermen’s cottages The small cluster of houses, Fiskerklyngen, situated just 200 m from the pier, is the oldest part of Frederikshavn. The original settlement dates back to 1568 when the town was called Fladstrand. The fishing hamlet situated below Flade Hills lay in a sheltered, natural harbour well protected from the storms by the small range of islands, Hirsholmene, out in the Kattegat . The houses we see today along the cobbled streets and alleys date from the 19 th and 20 th century and are typical of the N.Jutland architecture with yellow washed walls, red roofs and flowering hollyhocks. The oldest house, Strandgade no. 6, is a half-timbered house.
Useful information for excursion planners: The streets are cobbled and therefore not suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
